Where and when to watch

The Great Indian Kapil Show streams on Netflix. Netflix India's own posts and outlets such as Gulf News and Bollywood Hungama give the release time as 8 PM IST on Saturdays. It is a streaming show and does not air on a TV channel, so you cannot catch it live on Sony or Colors the way you could with Kapil's older shows. Every episode stays on Netflix after release, so you can catch up whenever you like.

Cast: Kapil's team this season

• Kapil Sharma: host
• Sunil Grover: back with his impressions and new characters
• Krushna Abhishek and Kiku Sharda: their comic duo returns, including the Sona and Mona 2.0 act
• Archana Puran Singh: on the permanent guest chair
• Navjot Singh Sidhu: also back as a permanent guest, as he was in Season 3
• Rajiv Thakur: part of the regular comedy cast

Episode guide

We add a row every Saturday once each episode streams.

Latest episode recap: Saif and Kareena

Episode 4 was billed as the couple's first appearance together on Kapil's Netflix show, and it was built around their 14th wedding anniversary. These are the moments reported by India TV, NewsBytes and other outlets:

• The ghee secret: when Kapil asked how they stay young after 14 years of marriage, Saif gave the credit to desi ghee. He added that Kareena even rubs it on her feet at night, and joked that their bedroom smells like a dhaba.
• Anniversary week: the episode streamed just after both stars marked the anniversary on Instagram.

Memorable moments from episodes 1 to 3

Episode 1: Ajay Devgn and the Drishyam family

The season opened with the Drishyam cast promoting Drishyam: The Conclusion, which reached cinemas on 2 October. Gulf News and India TV both reported that Sunil Grover did his impression of Ajay Devgn, and that Jaideep Ahlawat joined Krushna and Kiku's Sona and Mona 2.0 act and danced with Krushna. To see how the film did after that promotion, read our Drishyam: The Conclusion box office report.

Episode 2: The Vvaan cast

Bollywood Hungama and other outlets reported that Sidharth Malhotra said he has been coming back to Kapil's stage to promote his films ever since his debut, Student of the Year. Kapil teased him about working with Tamannaah and joked about the media coverage of Sidharth and Kiara Advani, and Tamannaah Bhatia praised Kapil's and Maniesh Paul's clean humour.

Episode 3: Gavaskar and Shastri

This was Ravi Shastri's first time on the show. The most widely reported moment was Navjot Singh Sidhu remembering how he was picked for India at 18 and shared a room with then-captain Shastri. He told an awkward story about that room, and Shastri threw a cushion at him. According to Netflix, Gavaskar also talked about facing fast bowlers without a helmet.

Who is coming next: reported guests

Netflix usually puts out the promo for each episode a few days before it streams. As of 20 October, no guest for episode 5 has been announced, and we have not found a reliable report naming one. Treat any "confirmed full guest list" on social media as speculation until Netflix India shares the promo. We will update this page as soon as it does.

What's new in Season 5

The show is back after six months off, with the full regular team, and Navjot Singh Sidhu is on the permanent guest chair next to Archana Puran Singh again. Netflix's promotions for the season use the line "Hasi Ka Tyohaar" (a festival of laughter). The first three weeks also showed the show's range: a film promotion, a web-series cast and then two cricket legends.

The Great Indian Kapil Show: all seasons

Before Netflix, Kapil's comedy lived on TV. Comedy Nights with Kapil ran on Colors from 2013 to 2016, and The Kapil Sharma Show ran on Sony Entertainment Television from 2016 to 2023.
