Ramayana: Part One opens in cinemas worldwide on Thursday, 5 November 2026, and the makers say advance booking in India opens on Dussehra, Tuesday 20 October. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, it stars Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Below is what is confirmed about booking, formats and languages, what is only reported (ticket prices, paid previews, runtime), and how US pre-sales have started. For the cast and budget, see our Ramayana release date, cast and budget guide.
When does Ramayana advance booking open in India?
The makers announced on Sunday, 11 October, the first day of Navratri, that the film releases worldwide on 5 November and that advance bookings open on Dussehra. PTI, Outlook India, Business Today and Sacnilk all reported it. Dussehra falls on 20 October this year.
What has not been announced, as of the night of 18 October:
- The exact time bookings go live on 20 October.
- Whether every chain and every city opens on the same day. Big Indian releases often open bookings in stages, with premium screens first.
- The full theatre list and show timings. Oneindia notes that these are still awaited.
The announcement also settled a date mix-up. An international trailer had pointed to 6 November, which led to weeks of conflicting reports, according to Business Today. The makers have since fixed 5 November as the worldwide date. Some territories still open a day later. Sacnilk lists the UK, South Africa and Mauritius for 6 November.
How to book Ramayana tickets
- From 20 October, check the major movie-ticketing apps and the apps of the big cinema chains. Shows may appear city by city, so look again later in the day if your theatre is not listed yet.
- Choose your format first. IMAX seats are the scarcest. Godzilla Minus Zero opens the next day and wants the same screens (more below).
- Choose your language. The film is releasing in five Indian languages, so make sure the show you pick is the version you want.
- Check the date. If paid previews on 4 November go ahead, those shows may be listed separately from opening-day shows on 5 November.
Ramayana ticket prices: what we know
No official ticket prices have been announced. We could not find two reliable trade reports that agree on prices for India. The figures going around online come from fan and promotional sites and are labelled "expected", so we are not repeating them.
Once bookings open, prices will vary a lot by city, chain, format (IMAX and other premium screens cost more than a standard 2D show), seat type, and day and time. Opening weekend and premium shows usually cost the most. Check the actual price in your ticketing app before you rely on any number you see shared online.
Formats and languages
- IMAX: confirmed. The makers say the film releases in premium formats, including IMAX, and it carries the Filmed For IMAX label.
- 3D: in the US, Sacnilk and Oneindia report that the ticketing listings include IMAX and 3D shows at selected cinemas. We found no official confirmation of 3D shows in India yet.
- Languages in India: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, according to PTI. Business Today also reports five Indian languages.
- English: an English trailer was released on 15 October. Oneindia says reports point to an English version, but the final language list for each market has not been officially confirmed.
For the second trailer and how people reacted to the VFX, see our Ramayana Trailer 2 breakdown.
Paid previews on 4 November: reported, not confirmed
Several outlets have reported that paid previews are planned for Wednesday, 4 November, the evening before release:
- Sacnilk, citing Pinkvilla, reported previews planned in India and North America on 4 November.
- Sacnilk, citing Bollywood Hungama, said the plan was being discussed but had "not yet been finalised".
- Odisha Bytes, citing a report in FPJ, and NewsBytes report a figure of around 300 paid preview screenings.
- Business Today notes that the official announcement confirmed 5 November but did not say whether these early shows will happen.
So treat 4 November previews as likely but unconfirmed until the shows appear in the booking apps.
Overseas pre-sales so far
In the US, bookings opened on Thursday, 15 October, at 9 am Eastern, according to Sacnilk citing Venky Box Office. The early numbers in reports do not match:
| Outlet | Reported US pre-sales | When |
|---|---|---|
| Sacnilk | Over $150K for premiere shows within 24 hours | 16 October |
| Oneindia (citing TOI) | Over $100K | 16 October |
The two numbers may simply have been taken at different times, but neither is official, and both cover only the first day or so of a three-week booking window. Overseas distribution outside India is being handled by Sony Pictures, according to Sacnilk.
Runtime and certificate
- Runtime: not officially confirmed. Sacnilk reported a tentative runtime of 3 hours 15 minutes. We found no second reliable source, so this may change.
- Certificate: the full film's CBFC certificate has not been announced. Only the trailer has been certified, with a U certificate, according to Sacnilk and Variety India.
Separately, a Delhi Ramlila group has asked to see the film before release. Our Ramlila Mahasangh screening demand explainer has that story.
The IMAX clash with Godzilla Minus Zero
Godzilla Minus Zero opens on 6 November, one day after Ramayana, and was also made for IMAX. India has only a limited number of IMAX screens. Sacnilk and NewsBytes report that Godzilla may get as little as one show a day at many IMAX properties in India, with the rest going to Ramayana. No final split has been announced, and cinemas can change shows based on demand. If you want an IMAX seat for the opening weekend, booking early on 20 October is the safest bet. Full details are in our Godzilla Minus Zero and Ramayana IMAX clash guide.
