The makers of Ramayana unveiled a new international trailer at a launch event in Bengaluru on 15 October 2026, three weeks before Part 1 reaches cinemas. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, with Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Yash as Ravana and Sai Pallavi as Sita, the film has had a bumpy ride with its visual effects since the first teaser. So did this cut finally win people over? Mostly yes, but not completely. Here is what the trailer shows, how it differs from the July trailer, what viewers are saying on both sides of the VFX debate, and what Ranbir said in Kannada on stage.

Ramayana trailer 2: quick facts

  • Launched: 15 October 2026, at an event in Bengaluru
  • Type: International (English) trailer, released globally by Sony Pictures, the film's distributor outside India
  • Length: about two and a half minutes (reports give 2:30 and 2:36)
  • Hosts: Prime Focus Studios and Yash's Monster Mind Creations
  • Part 1 release: 5 November 2026, worldwide, in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, including IMAX
  • Part 2: planned for Diwali 2027

What the new trailer shows

This cut is built around Yash's Ravana. Where the Hindi trailer from July spent much of its time setting up the story, this one moves almost straight to the conflict and the scale. According to reports and trailer breakdowns:

  • Ravana's rise and his clash with Indra. The trailer shows Ravana confronting the king of the gods. Kunal Kapoor's Indra gets a brief appearance, which he did not have in the Hindi trailer.
  • The Jatayu sequence. The fight between Ravana and Jatayu, the great bird who tries to save Sita, gets far more screen time than before. One breakdown describes Jatayu attacking Ravana's Pushpak Vimana before taking to the air.
  • Rama fighting demons, and new moments between Ranbir's Rama and Sai Pallavi's Sita that had not been shown earlier.

How it differs from the earlier trailers

It helps to put the trailers in order, because this is not the first one and not even the first in English.

  1. Teaser – 2 April 2026. Reactions were mixed. Many viewers felt the effects looked unfinished, and producer Namit Malhotra said his team was looking into the feedback.
  2. First full trailer – 30 July 2026. Released in five languages, about four minutes long. It covered Ayodhya, the exile, Shurpanakha and Sita's abduction, and was received far better than the teaser.
  3. English trailer – 5 August 2026. Sony Pictures released an English version and gave the date as 6 November at the time.
  4. International trailer – 15 October 2026. The new, shorter cut covered here, launched in Bengaluru.

What sets the new cut apart is focus: it skips most of the Ayodhya story and leans on action, Ravana and the effects work. That is exactly why the VFX debate came back.

The VFX debate: both sides

Entertainment sites that rounded up reactions from X, including Pinkvilla, Sunday Guardian and Rozana Spokesman, describe the response as largely positive, with a visible split on the effects. Keep in mind that these are social media posts collected by outlets, not critics' reviews.

The case for:

  • Yash's Ravana got the most praise. Fans said the performance felt bigger than what they expect from an Indian film.
  • The Ravana–Jatayu fight became the clip everyone talked about. Viewers predicted it would make theatres "erupt".
  • One widely quoted post even claimed the VFX outdid Avengers: Doomsday, which only fuelled the argument.
  • The background score, by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer, and the overall scale were praised again and again.

The case against:

  • Some viewers said a film of this size should have world-class effects, and that several shots still look disappointing.
  • One commonly quoted reaction praised the acting but said the visuals still needed work, and that the effects should impress audiences rather than make them question what they are seeing.

The fair reading: the reaction is far warmer than after the April teaser, when comparisons to video games were everywhere, but the doubters have not gone away.

Ranbir's Kannada speech

The moment from the launch that spread fastest had nothing to do with effects. Ranbir opened with "Jai Shri Ram", then greeted the crowd with "Namaskara Bengaluru" and thanked them in Kannada for their love and blessings. Then, apologising for not knowing more of the language, he said in Hindi: "Is baar itna hi seekh ke aaya hoon. Agli baar Yash Boss se thoda zyada seekh ke aaunga" – "This is all I have learned this time. Next time I will learn a little more from Yash Boss." The line, reported in the same words by Odisha TV, Aaj Tak and other outlets, drew loud cheers from a crowd full of fans of Yash, who is from Karnataka.

Yash also spoke in Kannada. According to reports, he urged fans to put regional differences aside and support good films, and defended Sai Pallavi's casting as Sita, pointing to her acting and sincerity. DNA reports that Ranbir also admitted he had doubts about whether he deserved the role of Rama, and called the film the opportunity of a lifetime.

Who attended the Bengaluru launch

Several outlets list Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Sai Pallavi, Ravie Dubey (Lakshman), Rakul Preet Singh (Shurpanakha) and director Nitesh Tiwari. Composer A.R. Rahman was also reported present.

Release date: 5 or 6 November?

Both dates have been reported, and both were correct at the time. The English trailer in August said 6 November. Then, on 11 October 2026, the first day of Navratri, the makers announced 5 November 2026 as the worldwide date, with a new poster and advance booking opening on Dussehra. Sony Pictures' post for the new trailer also says 5 November. That is the date to go by. For the full cast, budget and release details, see our Ramayana release date, cast and budget guide.
