Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups (2026) is the period gangster drama starring Yash, his first film since the K.G.F series. It is directed by Geetu Mohandas, who co-wrote it with Yash, and features Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. After several date changes, it released in cinemas on 26 August 2026. Here is where to watch Toxic online, what the story is about, and who is in it.

Story
Toxic is set in Goa in the years when Portuguese colonial rule was falling apart. Behind the postcard image of sun, sand and beaches, a powerful drug cartel quietly runs the show. Yash plays a man who rises through this dangerous world, and the film follows the cost of that rise – power, loyalty, love and revenge – as the action moves beyond Goa.
The "fairy tale for grown-ups" tag is a hint: this is a dark, stylised crime saga made for adult audiences, not a family film. Reviews were mixed, but most praised its look and its action set pieces, and several noted that the final act changes how you see what came before.

Why Toxic is a big deal
Toxic is Yash's first release since K.G.F: Chapter 2 in 2022, so the wait was long and expectations were huge. It was planned as a pan-India film from the start and was shot in both Kannada and English – unusual for an Indian film of this scale – with dubbed versions for other languages.
It also pairs a mass star with an art-house director. Geetu Mohandas is known for festival favourites like Moothon, so Toxic mixes big-star swagger with a more stylised, moody approach to the gangster genre.
The road to release was bumpy. The film was first set for March 2026, then moved to June and finally to 26 August 2026, partly because of tensions in the Middle East affecting overseas plans.
Why watch it
If you came to Yash through K.G.F: Chapter 1, Toxic shows a different, moodier side of him. Fans of slick gangster sagas like Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire or Khalifa: The Ruler will find plenty to enjoy, and the large female cast gives it a different flavour from most mass films.
