Who is Karuppu?
Karuppu (or Karuppasamy) is a guardian deity – a kaaval deivam – worshipped in villages across Tamil Nadu, usually shown with a sickle and a fierce look, and believed to protect people from injustice. The film borrows that idea and drops it into a modern courtroom, which is why the title means so much to Tamil audiences.
