The top half of this page has no spoilers; scene details sit in a clearly marked section further down.

- Director and writer: Nelson Dilipkumar
- Producer: Kalanithi Maran, Sun Pictures
- Music: Anirudh Ravichander
- Runtime: about 165 minutes

NDTV and The Indian Express reported that the big North Indian multiplex chains skipped the Hindi version over a dispute about its streaming window, so it played mostly in single screens.
What viewers and critics are saying
Early reviews are mixed to positive. Most agree that Rajinikanth carries the film and that the comedy works best in the first half. Bollywood Hungama gave it 3/5 and called it a "paisa vasool mass entertainer". WION praised Rajinikanth's screen presence and Anirudh's score. The Week called it a far funnier sequel but felt the returning stars are once again just brought in "to offer support to Muthuvel from the background".
The cameos split opinion most. Fans cheered Hrithik Roshan's entry, while 123telugu wrote that the cameos "deliver little excitement" this time, and WION said most of them "do not contribute enough to the story", with Hrithik as the exception.
Jailer 2 cameos: who is actually in the film

| Jackie Shroff | Kamdev (returning) | Seen in the film | Listed among the special appearances; reviewers say he has very little to do |

Why Mohanlal fans are upset
Mohanlal's Mathew was one of the big crowd-pleasers of the 2023 film, so expectations were high. On release day his costume designer, Jishad Shamsudeen, said on Instagram that "three of Mohanlal Sir's distinct looks were cut entirely", and that even a moment shown in the trailer had been trimmed. He added that if there is a sequel, he will not be part of it. The Week and Onmanorama both carried his statement, along with fans asking why the actor's portions were reduced. We found no response from the makers.
Cameo scenes in detail (spoilers)
Spoiler warning: this section describes cameo scenes and the ending of Jailer 2. Skip to the box office section if you have not seen the film.
- Hrithik Roshan as Roddy: Bollywood Hungama and India TV both describe Roddy as a suave character who shows up at a crucial moment to help Muthuvel, because Tiger helped him 20 years earlier. Bollywood Hungama noted that he tucks his sunglasses behind his shirt collar, a nod to Salman Khan's Chulbul Pandey. India TV reported that his entry scene, rescuing Rajinikanth from a jail, went viral, and put his screen time at about 15–20 minutes (India TV only). 123telugu was less impressed, saying his introduction "doesn't leave much of an impact".
- Vijay Sethupathi: Bollywood Hungama, India TV and The Sunday Guardian all place him in the final scene. India TV describes him as an informer and police officer linked to Vidya Balan's Kantha, and the scene leaves the door open for Jailer 3. Telugu360 reported that his part was trimmed to under two minutes. No other outlet confirms that figure.
- Mohanlal: 123telugu wrote that he "appears only twice". Fans quoted by Onmanorama say his introduction scene was missing.
- Shiva Rajkumar: 123telugu said he gets "around ten minutes of screen time". We found no second source for the length.
- Jackie Shroff: reviewers mention him only briefly, and 123telugu says he "has very little to do".
Bollywood Hungama wrote that the film "clearly ends with the promise" of a third part; nothing is officially announced yet.
