Updated 16 October 2026. All figures are trade estimates from box office trackers, mainly Sacnilk, with Pinkvilla and others where named. They are not producer figures and are often revised.
This week's box office has two stories. Jailer 2, Rajinikanth's sequel with director Nelson Dilipkumar, opened on Thursday 15 October with about ₹59.7 crore net in India, according to Sacnilk. Meanwhile Ajay Devgn's Drishyam: The Conclusion (Drishyam 3) has finished two weeks at about ₹333 crore net in India and ₹515 crore gross worldwide. And a ₹2 crore film, Hanuman Ansh, is still in cinemas in its tenth week. Here is how the three stand, and what the Dussehra weekend could change.
This week at a glance
| Film | Days in cinemas | India net | Worldwide gross |
|---|---|---|---|
| Jailer 2 | 1 (opened 15 Oct) | about ₹59.7 crore | about ₹125 crore |
| Drishyam: The Conclusion | 14 (opened 2 Oct) | about ₹333 crore | about ₹506–515 crore |
| Hanuman Ansh | 68 (opened 7 Aug) | about ₹337 crore | about ₹438–446 crore |
Ranges show where Sacnilk and other tallies differ.
Jailer 2 opening day: big, but not a record everywhere
Sacnilk puts Jailer 2's first day at ₹59.70 crore net (about ₹70–71 crore gross) in India. With about ₹55 crore from overseas, its worldwide total for day 1 comes to about ₹125 crore gross.
Sacnilk's language split shows how Tamil-heavy the opening was:
- Tamil: about ₹43.35 crore net
- Telugu: about ₹12.50 crore net
- Hindi: about ₹3.50 crore net
- Kannada: about ₹0.35 crore net
Pinkvilla's estimate is lower: about ₹67 crore gross in India. By its count, that makes Jailer 2 Rajinikanth's third-biggest opening day, behind Coolie and 2.0. Both Pinkvilla and Onmanorama put Tamil Nadu at about ₹22 crore. That is a big number, but well below the roughly ₹35 crore that Onmanorama says Vijay's Leo made in the state on its first day. The film did best outside Tamil Nadu: Kerala gave it about ₹12.25–12.5 crore, which beats Leo's Kerala opening, and Pinkvilla says it also set a new day-1 record for a Tamil film in Karnataka. Worldwide, Leo's reported ₹148.5 crore opening is still ahead.
Some early headlines used lower live readings (₹29–45 crore net) taken during the day. Day 2 (Friday 16 October) numbers were not final at the time of writing. For who appears in the film, see our Jailer 2 cameos guide.
Drishyam: The Conclusion day-wise collection
Sacnilk's day-wise India net for the Hindi film:
| Day | Date | India net |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 (Fri) | 2 Oct | ₹62.00 crore |
| Day 2 (Sat) | 3 Oct | ₹53.50 crore |
| Day 3 (Sun) | 4 Oct | ₹61.00 crore |
| Day 4 (Mon) | 5 Oct | ₹21.00 crore |
| Day 5 (Tue) | 6 Oct | ₹19.50 crore |
| Day 6 (Wed) | 7 Oct | ₹15.50 crore |
| Day 7 (Thu) | 8 Oct | ₹13.00 crore |
| Week 1 | ₹245.50 crore | |
| Day 8 (Fri) | 9 Oct | ₹14.50 crore |
| Day 9 (Sat) | 10 Oct | ₹26.50 crore |
| Day 10 (Sun) | 11 Oct | ₹22.50 crore |
| Day 11 (Mon) | 12 Oct | ₹6.00 crore |
| Day 12 (Tue) | 13 Oct | ₹8.50 crore |
| Day 13 (Wed) | 14 Oct | ₹5.25 crore |
| Day 14 (Thu) | 15 Oct | ₹4.25 crore |
| Week 2 | ₹87.50 crore |
Two things stand out. The Wednesday figure of ₹5.25 crore was about 38% below Tuesday's ₹8.50 crore. On Thursday the film fell another 19% or so to ₹4.25 crore on the day Jailer 2 opened. Also, Day 11 was first reported at ₹6.25 crore, and Sacnilk has since revised it to ₹6.00 crore.
Totals after 14 days, per Sacnilk: about ₹333 crore net and ₹399 crore gross in India, plus about ₹116 crore overseas, for about ₹515 crore gross worldwide. Wikipedia's list of Hindi films of 2026 shows a lower worldwide figure of about ₹506 crore. Our earlier Drishyam: The Conclusion box office report covers the first 11 days.
Where Drishyam 3 stands among 2026's top Hindi films
On worldwide gross, both Wikipedia's 2026 list and a 13 October ranking by Siasat place Drishyam: The Conclusion at number two, a long way behind Dhurandhar: The Revenge at about ₹1,850 crore. The order below that is closer:
- Dhurandhar: The Revenge – about ₹1,850 crore
- Drishyam: The Conclusion – about ₹506–515 crore
- Border 2 – about ₹464 crore
- Hanuman Ansh – about ₹438–446 crore
On India net, it is much tighter. Sacnilk has Hanuman Ansh at about ₹337 crore across Hindi and Telugu, while Drishyam: The Conclusion is at about ₹333 crore, so the Ajay Devgn film is still just behind in the domestic race. Expect lists to disagree for a few more weeks.
Hanuman Ansh: real, still running, but not ₹65 crore a day
Hanuman Ansh is a genuine sleeper hit. The Hindi drama by Vishal Chaturvedi opened on 7 August in about 250 cinemas and made under ₹1 crore in its first week. Word of mouth then grew its screen count to more than 2,000, according to reports. Its budget is reported at about ₹2 crore, which would make it one of the most profitable Indian films ever.
A Telugu dubbed version opened on 9 October. Sacnilk's latest daily figures, around ₹1.2–2.8 crore net a day for both versions combined, put it at about ₹337 crore net in India by Day 68 (13 October). Some sites have published a figure of "₹65 crore on 15 October". No tracker we checked shows anything close to that, and it does not match the film's daily run, so we have left it out.
What the weekend means: Prahaar, Nayyi Navelli and Dussehra
Two Hindi films opened on Friday 16 October: Rajkummar Rao's Prahaar and Yami Gautam Dhar's Nayyi Navelli. Advance bookings were modest for both. Pinkvilla counted about 11,000 tickets for Nayyi Navelli and 8,500 for Prahaar in the top national chains, and reports suggest small opening days for each. See our new releases this week guide for details.
The bigger factor is Dussehra on Tuesday 20 October. A holiday early in the week usually lifts every film in cinemas. For Jailer 2, it means a long first run of strong days, and The Week is among the outlets expecting it to reach ₹100 crore soon. For Drishyam: The Conclusion, the holiday is its best chance of a third-week jump and of passing Hanuman Ansh in India net. The full festive line-up is in our Diwali 2026 movies guide.
Watching at home
