Every year a new batch of film-family names steps in front of the camera, and 2026–27 is a busy one. Already here: Agastya Nanda and Simar Bhatia in Ikkis
Agastya Nanda, son of Shweta Bachchan Nanda and grandson of Amitabh Bachchan, made his theatrical debut with Ikkis, Sriram Raghavan's war drama produced by Maddock Films. He plays Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, the young officer awarded the Param Vir Chakra for the 1971 Battle of Basantar. The film also stars Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat.
Ikkis was first planned for Christmas 2025 but moved to 1 January 2026, opening the year. Reviews were largely positive, though it was a modest performer at the box office. Agastya had acted on screen before – in Zoya Akhtar's Netflix film The Archies (2023) – so Ikkis was his first cinema release rather than his first role.
Ikkis was also the big-screen debut of Simar Bhatia, Akshay Kumar's niece, who plays the female lead opposite Agastya. You can watch Ikkis on NoWireTV.
Vir Hirani: a streaming debut first
Vir Hirani, son of director Rajkumar Hirani (Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., 3 Idiots), chose a series over a film. He plays Pritam opposite Arshad Warsi's Pedro in Pritam & Pedro, a Goa-set cybercrime comedy created and produced by his father and directed by Avinash Arun. It premiered on JioHotstar on 3 July 2026, and it was also Rajkumar Hirani's own first streaming project. For Munna Bhai fans, the pairing with Arshad Warsi – Circuit himself – was the obvious hook. A feature-film debut for Vir has not been officially announced.
Suhana Khan: King, 24 December 2026
The biggest debut of the year is still ahead. Suhana Khan stars with her father in King, an action thriller directed by Siddharth Anand (War, Pathaan) and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures. It is set for 24 December 2026, a date the makers reaffirmed with a teaser in April 2026. Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan are among the cast.
Like Agastya, Suhana first appeared in The Archies, which went straight to Netflix, so King will be her theatrical debut. Reports say she plays a protégé of Shah Rukh Khan's character, but the makers have kept story details under wraps. As always with a film this big, the date could still move, but as of mid-October 2026 it stands.
Yashvardhan Ahuja: Hero Ki Horrorine, 7 January 2027
Govinda's son Yashvardhan Ahuja has been "about to debut" for years, so a dated release is real news. He leads Hero Ki Horrorine, a horror-comedy directed by Sajid Khan, opposite Nitanshi Goel (Laapataa Ladies). Filming began in Mumbai in January 2026 under the working title Hundred; the new title and a release date of 7 January 2027 were reported in August 2026. His mother Sunita Ahuja also features in the cast, along with Jamie Lever and Chunky Panday. Yashvardhan trained in filmmaking and acting at the Met Film School in London.
Naomika Saran: Jaan Hai Tu Meri
Naomika Saran, daughter of former actor Rinke Khanna and granddaughter of Rajesh Khanna and Dimple Kapadia, is working on her first film for Maddock Films, directed by Jagdeep Sidhu and co-starring Vedang Raina. Reports based on photos from the set give the title as Jaan Hai Tu Meri, though some outlets still call it untitled. It is described as a young romantic comedy with a twist, and Pragati Srivastava has been reported as a second female lead. Some reports expect a late-2026 release, but no date has been announced, so 2027 is just as possible.
Arhaan Khan: still a report
Arhaan Khan, son of Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora, is reported to be making his debut in an untitled action love story directed by Anirudh Iyer (An Action Hero) and produced by Ashwin Varde. Reports say his uncle Salman Khan will do a cameo and that shooting should begin in early 2027. Neither Arhaan, his family nor the director has officially announced it, so treat this as the least certain debut on the list.
What to watch for
Look at the list as a whole and one thing stands out: the big studios are spreading their bets. Maddock Films backed both Ikkis and Naomika Saran's film, streaming platforms are now a real launch pad (Pritam & Pedro, and The Archies before it), and genre is wide open – war drama, action thriller, horror-comedy and romance. The real test, as always, comes on release day. For what else is coming to cinemas, see our October–November 2026 release calendar.
