The story, spoiler-light
Carrie White has grown up out of sight with her mother, Margaret, in the town of Chamberlain. When her father's sudden death forces her into public high school for the first time, she walks into a world she does not understand. A humiliating moment is filmed and spreads online, turning into a viral bullying scandal, and at the same time Carrie begins to discover that she can move things with her mind. The show follows her through the school year, one "class" per episode, building towards the prom night every reader of the novel knows is coming.

What changes from the book and the 1976 and 2013 films
Brian De Palma's 1976 film with Sissy Spacek and the 2013 remake with Chloe Grace Moretz both told the story in under two hours. Eight episodes give Flanagan room to rebuild it. The main changes reported so far:
- A different Carrie: she is written as open, earnest and trusting rather than fearful and withdrawn.
- A different Margaret: instead of the tyrannical religious abuser of the novel and the 1976 film, Margaret is shown as loving and fiercely protective, and the family has been living hidden from the authorities.
- Social media bullying: the locker-room humiliation becomes a viral scandal, and Chris runs an online account mocking Carrie.
- New characters and subplots: Emaline West and her mother are new, and there is a wider storyline around a cult and the school staff.
- What stays: Sue, Chris, Tommy, Billy and Miss Desjardin, the shower scene and, of course, prom.
- Spoiler warning: several outlets report that the finale does not end the way the novel does and leaves room for more story.
Carrie reviews
Critics have mostly been positive. The series holds a Rotten Tomatoes critics score of about 85%, and, according to Wikipedia, a Metacritic score of 72 out of 100. Reviewers praised the modern take and the performances, especially Howell and Sloyan. Not everyone was convinced: The Hollywood Reporter's critic felt the changes lose some of what drives the story to its explosive ending, while still singling out Howell's work.
Will there be a Carrie season 2?
Sources do not agree yet. Several entertainment sites reported in mid-October 2026 that Prime Video had not announced a second season, while Wikipedia's page for the show now lists it as renewed. We could not find an official Amazon or trade-press announcement, so treat season 2 as unconfirmed for now. Flanagan has said in interviews that he sees the story as a three-season arc.
Is Carrie available in Hindi?
We could not confirm a Hindi or other Indian-language dub. One report mentioned Indian-language versions, but JustWatch's India listing for Prime Video shows English and several European and Asian audio tracks, with no Hindi. Check the audio menu in the Prime Video app for your account.
