Star Gold is one of the biggest names in Hindi movie television, and over the years it has grown into a whole family of channels – Star Gold HD, Star Gold Select HD, Star Gold 2, Star Gold Romance and Star Gold Thrills. This guide explains how to watch each of them live online on your phone, laptop or TV, what each channel shows, which one to pick, and what to do if the stream buffers.
Watch Star Gold live on NoWireTV
The quickest way: open Star Gold HD live on NoWireTV and press play. No set-top box, DTH recharge or cable connection is needed – the channel streams straight in your browser.
- On a phone or laptop: go to Live TV, search for "Star Gold" and tap the channel you want. It starts playing in a few seconds.
- On the NoWireTV Android app: tap Get App on the website, install the app, open Live TV and pick a Star Gold channel. Add your favourites so they are one tap away next time.
- On a big TV: install the NoWireTV app on a Fire TV stick and watch Star Gold on your television, just like a normal channel.
The player adjusts the picture quality to your internet speed automatically, so it keeps playing on mobile data as well as Wi-Fi.
Star Gold Select HD live
"Star Gold Select HD live" is the most common Star Gold search that brings people to NoWireTV, so it gets its own section. Open Star Gold Select HD on NoWireTV to start watching.
Star Gold Select HD launched in March 2017 as an HD-only Hindi movie channel. Star pitched it as a channel for hand-picked, well-made Indian films – the kind of movies you would choose for a proper movie night rather than the usual weekend action rotation. It runs on its own schedule, separate from Star Gold HD, so you will often find a completely different film on it at the same hour.
Some viewers search with a channel number, such as "83 Star Gold Select HD". Channel numbers belong to your DTH or cable operator and differ from one provider to another. On NoWireTV you do not need a number – just search the name.
What each Star Gold channel shows
All of these channels are now owned by JioStar, the company formed by the merger of Viacom18 and Disney's Star India business.
- Star Gold HD – the flagship. Star Gold went on air in September 2000 and today shows mainstream Bollywood films: big-star blockbusters, family entertainers, action films, plus South Indian hits dubbed in Hindi. New films often get their TV premieres here.
- Star Gold Select HD – curated Hindi cinema in HD, with a more selective line-up.
- Star Gold 2 HD – the channel that used to be called Movies OK. It was renamed Star Gold 2 in February 2020 and shows a wide mix of Hindi and dubbed films on a separate schedule.
- Star Gold Romance – launched in March 2023 for love stories. If you searched "Star Gold Romance stream", this is the channel for romantic dramas and musical hits.
- Star Gold Thrills – launched alongside Romance in March 2023, for action, suspense, thriller and horror films, including Hollywood titles dubbed in Hindi.
Which Star Gold channel should you pick?
| If you want… | Watch |
|---|---|
| The latest Bollywood blockbusters and TV premieres | Star Gold HD |
| A carefully chosen film, in HD | Star Gold Select HD |
| A different film when Star Gold HD is showing a repeat | Star Gold 2 HD |
| Romantic films and love stories | Star Gold Romance |
| Action, thrillers, horror and dubbed Hollywood | Star Gold Thrills |
A simple habit: when one Star Gold channel is in an ad break or showing something you have already seen, flip to another. With five channels on different schedules, there is usually a film starting somewhere.
Other Hindi movie channels to try
If nothing on Star Gold suits your mood, NoWireTV has plenty of other live movie channels:
- Sony Max HD – Star Gold's biggest rival, with Bollywood hits and dubbed South films. See our Sony Max live guide for more.
- Sony MAX2 – classic Hindi films from earlier decades.
- Colors Cineplex HD – JioStar's other big Hindi movie channel.
- Star Utsav Movies – another Hindi movie channel from the Star stable.
- B4U Movies – Bollywood films round the clock.
- NH BollyFlix and NH BollyGold – more Hindi movie channels, handy when the big ones are on a break.
Or browse all live movie channels in one place. If you would rather pick a film and start it from the beginning, the NoWireTV movie library lets you watch on demand.
Star Gold live not working? Try this
- Buffering: move closer to your Wi-Fi router, or switch from mobile data to Wi-Fi. HD channels need a steadier connection.
- Black screen: refresh the page, or close and reopen the app.
- On iPhone / Safari: some channels use a protected stream that Safari cannot play. Use Chrome on a laptop, or the Android app.
- Still stuck? Try another Star Gold channel or Sony Max HD for a few minutes, then come back.
