Hungama TV has been one of India's best-known cartoon channels for two decades. It is the home of Shin-chan, a long-running Hindi dub of Pokémon, and a line-up built mostly on Japanese animation. Its younger sister, Super Hungama, leans towards action shows for slightly older kids. Both are in NoWireTV's live TV section. This guide explains what each channel is, how they differ, which shows they are known for, and where Doraemon fits in, since it has moved around over the years.

What is Hungama TV?
Hungama TV started broadcasting in late September 2004. It was launched by UTV as India's first home-grown kids' channel. Wikipedia gives the date as 25 September and an Indiantelevision report from the time gives 26 September. The channel began with a mix of live-action and animated shows. Over time it moved almost entirely to animation, and Wikipedia credits Doraemon's success for that shift.
In July 2006 Disney announced it was buying the channel. Disney's own press release and contemporary trade reports put the deal at an enterprise value of $30.5 million for 100% of the company that ran Hungama. Today the channel is run by JioStar, the joint venture of Viacom18 and Disney India, which also runs Disney Channel, Nick and Sonic.
Shows Hungama is known for
The line-up changes, so treat this as a guide to the channel's staples, not a fixed schedule.
- Shin-chan: The Hindi dub started on Hungama in June 2006 and became the channel's biggest hit. Wikipedia says it was briefly banned in 2008 and returned in a censored version. Reports on Sony YAY's 2024 launch of the show describe Hungama as its daily home since 2006. Since May 2024, Sony YAY has also aired Shin-chan, including episodes not shown in India before, so it is no longer only on Hungama.
- Pokémon: Bulbagarden describes Pokémon and the Hungama network as ten years into their partnership by 2024. Pokémon Horizons: The Series premiered on Hungama on 25 May 2024 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, according to The Pokémon Company's announcement as covered by T2 and Bulbagarden. The Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubs also got their own new theme songs.
- Tsurupika Hagemaru and Indian-made shows such as Selfie With Bajrangi and Bhaiyyaji Balwan appear among current programmes on Wikipedia's Hungama list. We could not confirm this with a second source, so check the live channel.
Is Doraemon still on Hungama?
Doraemon has moved channels more than once. Here is the short version:
- The Hindi dub of Doraemon came to India on Hungama in 2005, and the show helped make the channel's name.
- Doraemon later aired on sister channel Disney Channel too. Wikipedia says Disney Channel began rerunning the old dubbed episodes in November 2010, and TV guide listings from 2020 and 2021 show Doraemon films on both channels.
- Wikipedia's programme list for Hungama now puts Doraemon under former programming. Its Doraemon article also says the films began airing on Sonic in June 2025, but we found only that one source.
So if Doraemon is what your child wants, Hungama may not be the right channel today. Check Sonic and Disney Channel too. Separately, a new Doraemon film opened in Indian cinemas on 2 October 2026, the franchise's first theatrical release in India.
