DD Sports

DD Sports is the sports channel of Doordarshan, India's public broadcaster, and is the country's main public service channel for sport. It started in March 1998 with only a few hours of programmes a day, became a 24-hour channel in 2000 and turned free-to-air in 2003. It is part of the DD Free Dish line-up, so it reaches homes all over India.

The channel shows live sport and highlights, from cricket, football and tennis to hockey, athletics, wrestling, badminton, archery and swimming. It gives real space to Indian games like kabaddi and kho-kho and to national championships that private channels rarely cover. Sports news, quizzes and interviews fill the rest of the day. It is for every sports fan, especially those who follow Indian athletes beyond cricket.
